Our Projects

Our team have the skills to complete a wide range of work on golf courses. Here we are building retaining walls around a tee box, putting in drainage behind it and the completing a concrete walking path at Huapai Golf. The project is well underway and will continue through next week.

Waitemata Golf Course is feeling the love this week with the reshaping of a bunker. Reducing size, cleaning edges and a fresh sand fill. At the same time the team are on site they are beginning the construction of a series of new ladies tee boxes. Remove turf, import new material and compact, laser level and then returf.

A prominent Central Auckland School that Turf and Drainage work with host many of the NRL League teams for training when they visit NZ. To ensure the fields are fit for purpose we were engaged to change the location of the artificial cricket pitch. Turf from the new pitch was carefully removed and used on the old pitch. It was really neat to see the lateral drainage and sand slits in place once we excavated the new location. This type of job usually involves irrigation adjustments and pipe movements as well. And then having a clean finish so the field is back in use as fast as possible.

School is finished and traffic is lighter - this is the perfect time for the Turf and Drainage team to put the foot down!! Over the last 2 days we have had just under 1000t of sand delivered across 3 sites, removed the surface from a 16000m2 sports field platform, scarified and swept over 6ha of ground, cored over 7ha and removed 400m3 of spoil from sites. Men and machines are working in harmony and our customers are happy. What a great way to be as we move into the final working week of the year!!

As well as our teams amazing work on natural and hybrid turf we also have an artificial turf business www.turfcare.co.nz We service tennis courts, daycare centres, hockey and football turf and ensure that it is clean, weedfree and sanitised for safe use. The photos show a typical outcome we achieve.

Another successful Turf replacement at Eden Park last week post the Metallica Concert. 2am starts for the harvesting crew through to 8pm finishes for the laying crew. Thanks Blair Christiansen Hamish Sutherland Roger Morgan and the whole Turf and Drainage Team for another professional and high quality job.

And another job completed - dug out, hydrowick drainage installed, stolons spread, edges blended in and sand rolled over the surface. Now we just let the water and fertiliser work its magic and watch this revamped area grow in.

The Hydrowick drainage system can also be installed as part of a surface rebuild. The below shots show a private fairway which had ongoing problems around poor sub surface growth media, and poor levels. The Turf and Drainage team are fixing these issues and then laying out the hydrowick prior to redoing the fairway. Incorporating the Hydrowick at this stage and pinning it down prior to adding finishing material above means a fast and efficient install.

The Turf and Drainage team are in Rolleston this week installing at Foster Park Rugby 1. This is a high use site and by installing Hydrowick Drainage , the team will be completed in 1 week and the field open for play again immediately. No grow in, no extended closure, almost invisible post install, highly effective and with a 20 year+ life. hashtag

Problem solving is a key part of what the Turf and Drainage team do and the following was a problem. Artificial cricket blocks either sink or the ground around them is built up with ongoing applications of sand and increased organic material, this means it can create a hazard to players and also becomes a catch basin for water.
Our solution is to remove the old artificial turf and inject the underside of the block with a 2 pot solution - in this case raising the level by 80mm and then lay new artificial turf on top. 2-4 days per block and a perfect result underway. Sometimes looking at already available solutions and applying them to a different scenario is the best way.
